| FAA-405-ANA-PC Surveys of Four Airports in OH, IN, MO and MN

Aeronautical Surveys Provide Information for Obstruction Analysis

In 2005 and 2006, in support of FAA 405 Aeronautical Surveys, the Dulles Division of Aero-Metric, Inc. provided geodetic control surveys, photogrammetric mapping and related services at Clinton Field in Wilmington, Ohio; Fulton County Airport in Rochester, Indiana; Lawrence Smith Airport in Harrisonville, Missouri and Ely Municipal Airport in Ely, Minnesota.

In Phase I, color aerial photography was obtained at a nominal scale of 1”=600’.

Geodetic control surveys were performed to verify and/or establish primary and secondary airport control stations. Photo control surveys were performed to support photogrammetric mapping of planimetric features within the airport boundaries and 2600’ beyond the ends of each runway. Runway corners, thresholds, centerline profiles and navigational aids were field located utilizing kinematic GPS techniques. Color digital orthophotos were provided with 0.5’ ground pixel resolution.

In Phase II, color aerial photography at a nominal scale of 1”=2000’, with ABGPS, was obtained. Supplemental photo control surveys were accomplished to strengthen and validate the airborne results. Analytical aero-triangulation was performed and photogrammetric compilation of potential obstructions and ‘highest points’ at various intervals throughout the study area was conducted.

Obstructions and potential obstructions within the study area, which included the FAR 77 horizontal and conical surfaces, were field verified in Phase I and II.
