We provided horizontal control for 94 targets using GPS methodology. Vertical control was established, to a relative accuracy of 0.01’, utilizing differential spirit leveling.
This photography and control was used in a photogrammetric process to provide high accuracy elevations, on paved surfaces, at four interchanges along Route 28. The predicted accuracy of these elevations is ± 0.05’, with respect to the project vertical datum.
Through the use of low altitude (helicopter platform) aerial photography, the exposure of field survey staff to vehicular traffic hazards was eliminated. Another significant advantage of this approach was the minimum disruption of traffic on this major thoroughfare. |
