Illinois Department of Transportation: Design Scale Aerial Photography and Mapping
As a subconsultant, AeroMetric provided professional photogrammetric and aerial mapping services to the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) for their Prairie Parkway corridor project. This project was a continuation of a design scale topographic mapping project started in 2005. Another subconsultant provided additional ground control for specified targets to support the mapping effort.
The majority of the mapping was completed from existing aerial imagery that was obtained for the corridors in 2005 under the initial scope of work. New aerial photography was acquired for a portion of the corridor and tied to the previous mapping with an analytical softcopy aerotriangulation solution utilizing the ground control survey data All imagery was scanned to support future orthophoto image file development.
The completed mapping and imaging were prepared for display and plotting at a 1”=50’ scale. One foot contours were also developed. Completed and edited planimetric and contour files were delivered. The 3D digital terrain surfaces were delivered in .Geopak format and posted on AeroMetric’s ftp site for retrieval by the IDOT Project Manager. All mapping was developed in accordance with IDOT Mapping Specifications. Black and white digital othophoto image files were also developed to represent the same project corridor limits as the digital map files.
