Illinois State Tollway: Geospatial Project Catalog
Throughout the development of the I-355 South Extension Corridor, efforts were taken to document the various attributes of the new roadway. It was necessary to archive a wide range of information including orthoimagery, planimetric features, and topographic data. AeroMetric's solution was to develop a complete project catalog of all image files and mapping created during the As-built survey of the I-355 corridor that would assist with the rapid recovery of all referenced materials. The solution was designed to save time and reduce expense associated with project research, field verifications, and re-survey efforts.
AeroMetric created a geospatial project catalog system that provides a one-click access to every dataset acquired during the project – including orthorectified imagery in TIFF and MrSID format, CADD planimetry, customized geodatabase feature classes, PDF cross section profiles, and project-wide metadata layers such as flightlines, exposure stations, and stereo model boundaries. AeroMetric also provided on-site installation, testing, and training support. The project consisted of system analysis and design, geodatabase modeling, development and update; data capture and conversion; geodatabase population and conversion; and document, imaging, and archiving solutions.
AeroMetric conducted periodic reviews with Tollway personnel throughout the process to ensure that all relevant data was included and any necessary adjustments could be made. The project engineer for the Illinois Tollway stated that "AeroMetric's solution and customer service throughout the process ultimately provided a very successful solution on time and within budget. Their team of professionals not only satisfied the demands for our multifaceted information needs, but exceeded them as well."
